Makaton
At St. John Bosco, our children have been learning Makaton. Makaton is a sign and symbol language that is designed to support spoken language. Using these signs can help with communication and understanding. As well as using Makaton in our children’s learning, we also share a ‘Sign of the Week’.
Around our school you will see some Makaton symbols displayed. We use them to help children find their way around school but they also have lots of uses in the classroom, eg. for visual timetables and to help children learn and write stories.
