Year 4 have been diving into the exciting world of hockey! They’ve been learning some important skills that will help them master the game. One key lesson they’ve been working on is how to hold the hockey stick with two hands at all times, whether they’re dribbling the ball or catching it.
The children have been focusing on holding the stick properly in order to give them better control over the ball, which is essential for keeping it in their possession and avoiding opponents trying to steal it. With two hands on the stick, it’s much easier to change direction quickly and stay ahead of the game!
Another critical aspect they’ve been focusing on is keeping their head up while playing. This helps them avoid accidents and collisions, ensuring they’re always aware of where the ball is and where their teammates and opponents are. By staying alert, they can make smarter decisions on the field and play more safely.
The children are enjoying the fun and challenging experience as they learn how to stay in control and work together as a team. They can’t wait to build on their knowledge of hockey, practise and put these skills to the test in a game!
