St John Bosco Catholic Primary School

Year 4 embarked on a thrilling journey into the world of Wonder, by R.J. Palacio, and brought the heart-warming story to life through dramatic re-enactments of the chapter “The Performance Space.” With curiosity and enthusiasm, the children dove deep into the themes of empathy, acceptance, and the power of expression.

In this chapter, we witness Auggie face a pivotal moment during his school’s drama performance. For the Year 4 class, it was the perfect opportunity to explore how characters confront challenges and express themselves. The students eagerly took on the roles of Auggie, his classmates, and the teachers, putting themselves in the shoes of the characters to understand their feelings.

With a creative twist, the children not only re-enacted the chapter but also explored how they would bring their own personal experiences into the scene. This exercise allowed them to connect emotionally with the text, practicing empathy in a dynamic and engaging way. It was incredible to see the students’ confidence grow as they stepped into character, each bringing a unique perspective to the performance.

The adventure doesn’t stop here. As the class moves forward in Wonder, who knows what new lessons they’ll uncover as they continue exploring the world of Auggie and his friends!
