Special Event - Introducing the Year of Faith

October 2012

The staff, governors and children at our school have introduced the Year of Faith in school, with a Special Assembly.

Children and staff reflected on the Special year ahead, with special Prayers and quiet reflection.

The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI announced that the Catholic Church will celebrate a Year of Faith from 11 October 2012 to 24 November 2013.

In the Acts of the Apostles, we learn that God has opened the door of faith for the early Church. But did you know that God has opened the door of faith for each one us and he invites us to step through the threshold into a deeper relationship with him.

The upcoming Year of Faith is an opportunity for every Catholic to turn towards Jesus Christ, encounter him in the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist and rediscover the Faith and Church.

Mrs Finnegan, Co-Headteacher, invited all parents, parishioners and members of the local community to join us on their Journey of Faith, every Thursday morning in school, at 9am Mass. Mass is celebrated with Fr Ugo and Fr Stan, from St Michael’s and the Angels Church in West Bromwich.

This year in school is a very special year. The children from Year 3 will be receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion at Holy Cross Church with Fr Timothy Burke, who is also the Chair of Governors and the children form Years 5 and 6 will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Michael’s Church in West Bromwich.
