Special Event - World War II Day

March 2010

Year 4 pupils from St John Bosco Primary School at West Bromwich spent a day as World War II evacuees during a day spent at Cannock Chase museum to compliment their studies of the War.

The children all arrived at school dressed as evacuees complete with labels before setting off for the museum at Hednesford. During the day they experienced life as an evacuee, took part in an air raid warning, learned about rationing and wartime life, handled wartime objects and the day culminated with a detailed role play with the children demonstrating superb acting skills reliving the experiences of evacuated children - complete with authentic costumes.

The day was superbly organised and really enhanced their understanding of the war.
