St John Bosco Teaching School Alliance

Special Event - Switch-Off Fortnight

2 December 2011

Eco Club and Green Team took part in Switch Off Fortnight between 21st November and 2nd December.

At the start of the week, Eco club held an assembly about saving energy and the effects energy consumption has on the environment. Every class was encouraged not to leave laptops, projectors, IWB's, laminators or photocopiers on when not in use. The children were also encouraged to take part in switch-off fortnight at home.

On Friday 2nd December, Mr Adams switched off the school central heating system for an hour. The school's energy display meter monitored the energy use during this time and a significant difference was found!

To keep children warm the Eco Club and Green Team taught the whole school a Christmas dance in the hall.

Thank you to all the children and staff who took part in switch-off fortnight. Let's continue to save energy and help our school become more sustainable.
