Special Event - World's Biggest Coffee Morning

30 September 2011

On Friday 1st October, Year 6 pupils from St John Bosco Primary School became involved in 'The World's Biggest Coffee Morning' in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support by organising an event on their own.

In the week leading up to the event the children baked cakes, collected raffle prizes and made and delivered invitations to the local community and friends of the school.

The afternoon before saw the class busily involved in decorating and setting up the school hall for the event, with stalls, balloons and lots of things to eat and drink. Everyone agreed it looked superb.

The morning itself saw everyone involved in running the stalls they had created themselves and everyone was delighted with the constant stream of people through the doors. Some children went out onto the streets to rattle buckets and drum up custom. The efforts certainly worked as, in a little over an hour, the class raised over £300.

Everyone involved commented on how superb the event was and how sensibly and enthusiastically the pupils ran it.
