Special Event - Year 4 trip to Cannock Chase Museum

13 December 2011

On Tuesday 13th December, Year 4 went to the Cannock Chase museum to learn about World War Two. During the morning, the children learnt about WW2 artefacts and experienced an air raid siren. The children had pretend gas masks which they wore to take cover in the dark. It was all a bit scary!

After handling genuine WW2 artefacts and dressing up in WW2 army uniform, the children went into a 1940's sitting room. There, they looked at appliances from the 1940's such as irons that were put in front of the fire to heat.

In the afternoon, the children split into groups and dressed up in clothes from the 1940's. Each group performed a piece of role-play about evacuation. The performances were fantastic and the children showed a great deal of maturity.

Well done Year 4.
