Special Event - Year 6 PGL at Boreatton Park

25 to 27 May 2011

Year 6 pupils along with Mr Mobberley, Mr Edmunds and Miss Ellicottl took part in a three day adventure course at PGL Centre Boreatton Park, near Shrewsbury.

During the visit they took part in a range of activities including canoeing, high ropes course, quad bikes, archery, trapeze and zip wire along with evening activities and a lot of free time to use the facilities at the centre.

The visit has been arranged to celebrate the end of the pupils' time at St John Bosco before they move to various high schools in September.

Boreatton Park is the largest outdoor education centre in the whole of Europe with the capacity for over a thousand children to enjoy its fantastic facilities. It is a former mansion house, which is the part of the centre the St John Bosco group stayed in, with extensive grounds and facilities, run by PGL, the biggest and longest established company providing such activities.

On arrival at the Mansion the sign that greets visitors tells them that PGL stands for 'Parents Get Lost'! While this is not strictly true it was certainly the case for the three days of the St John Bosco visit, with barely a thought of home as everyone embraced the activities to the fullest. In some cases overcoming considerable fear to complete the activities and gain a great deal of satisfaction from their success.

Everyone, to a person, agreed they had a fantastic time and this was an awesome way to end their penultimate half term at Primary School. The food, facilities, PGL staff and most importantly St John Bosco pupils were outstanding and the memories will last a long time.

Year 5 will be visiting Boreatton Park in May 2012.
