Special Event - Year 6 Adventure Week at Whitemoor Lakes

11 to 15 June 2012

Year 6 students enjoyed a week of outdoor and adventurous activities at Whitemoor Lakes activity centre in Staffordshire.

The centre, which is the newest of its kind in the whole of the UK, provided the children with the opportunity to take part in activities including archery, climbing, abseiling, fencing, high ropes and zip wire among others.

However with its specialism in water based activities, the highlight for many was canoeing and raft building on the purpose built lake. These saw everyone get very wet but develop lots of skills in the process!

Additionally during their five day stay the children enjoyed a day of exploration at Cannock Chase, an evening campfire and numerous games and team building challenges put together by the fantastic team of instructors at Whitemoor Lakes.

The 18 pupils who took part in the visit are in their final few weeks of what has been a fantastic seven years at St John Bosco School. At the end of July they will move to a variety of high schools and the week away was a terrific way to put into practice the skills they have learned over the years - most notably those of co-operation and teamwork.

Every single person took part in every activity, many of which were quite daunting, and gained a real sense of pride from their achievements. The whole group had an amazing time, doing exciting activities in a first class environment.

They all agree that the memories of the week will last a long time and they all really did the school and themselves proud.
